Conclusion
"Child abuse happens all year long. Abuse doesn’t take a holiday, doesn’t take a day off, and we can’t either." -Jane Donovan

In his book on human violence and cruelty, Dr. Roy Baumeister explains that violence is typically used to gain or maintain power. In many cases, self-esteem and egotism are intimately linked with the abusive tendencies of the abusers. Many times, this need to protect ones’self-esteem or ego comes from some abuse that this abuser experienced as a child. In this we see that another consequence of child abuse is that it (in some cases) breeds a new generation of abusers. In order to save these children, whether it is from death, from a life full of difficulties due to the abuse they have experienced, or from becoming abusers themselves, we must prevent the abuse from continuing. It is important to recognize the signs of abuse and to intervene by filing a report on the suspected abuse. The lives of these children can be saved if we are only willing to stand and be their advocates.
